"Social Media Empowerment: Me Over the App"

Technology has been breaking barriers for decades now, and everything are becoming easier to access. With the rise of smart phones, people from different age groups are able to access computer programs with a swipe of a finger. From creating Word documents to intricate editing apps like Adobe Photoshop, everything is almost possible with a smart phone. I am an example of a person who depends on the power of the smart phone. I use my phone to create and edit films, to take photos and edit it like a pro, to create and play music, to enjoy playing games in it, and basically almost everything that I can think of.
Communication is also being enhanced nowadays, and it is now possible to talk to people from other countries via Messenger or an app that uses real-time video calls, but it seems that it is becoming more difficult to initiate a conversation with someone who is near you. Most people nowadays are using their phones even when they are with their families eating dinner. They mostly focus on their phones, rather than focusing on their food or their family conversations. Good thing my parents wants to maintain the old tradition wherein we have to respect food on the table and all. We are reminded and taught to not let our gadgets and other devices take over our day or other things that are more important. Call it old fashioned or boring but this is important in family building and social interactions. We shouldn't be slaves of our devices and be masters of our own. Let's make it "Me Over the App" and not the "App Over Us". Are we really "slaves" or our own creation?
